The article is devoted to the problems of management and innovative development of modern higher education in the sports field. The fundamental mission and strategic goal of the development of branch universities are formulated. On the basis of a predictive analysis of the industry development dynamics, a cluster structure that is resistant to evolving interactions of the external environment is proposed for the effective long-term development of a sports university. The outstripping immanent mechanisms of long-term development as a strategic goal of innovative management of a branch university are revealed.
